Core Features

Local Recording

Every recording is captured locally on your device at full quality. No compression from internet streaming, no quality loss — just pristine audio and video written straight to your drive.

Dual Output Format

Each desktop recording session produces two files optimized for different workflows:

• Audio WAV — your full-quality audio master for editing
• Video MP4 — H.264 video with synced audio, ready to drop into any editor and self-contained as a backup

Sync Beep

Capturly places a short 1000 Hz tone at the head of the audio. It reads as an unmistakable spike in any waveform view, which makes aligning several participants’ tracks in post straightforward. See Sync Beep for exactly which files carry it.

Pre-Flight Checks

Before recording starts, Capturly verifies:

• Sufficient disk space for the resolution you’re about to record
• Device availability
• Permissions are granted

If any issue is detected, you’ll see a clear message explaining the problem and how to fix it.

Live Cloud Backup

On paid plans, Capturly streams a copy of your recording to the cloud while you record, so a crash or a closed laptop doesn’t cost you the take. See Cloud Library.

Session Features (Pro & Team)

Recording with remote guests

Record with remote guests over direct peer-to-peer connections. Each participant records locally at full quality while seeing and hearing each other in real time. Pro sessions hold 4 participants, Team sessions hold 8.

Invite links

Share a link and guests join in their browser — no account, no download. The link carries a 6-character room code that desktop and web users can also type by hand.

Host Controls

As the host you control when recording starts and stops for everyone, admit guests, and see live per-participant recording state.

Automatic track collection

When the session ends, each guest’s recording uploads to you automatically and lands in your cloud library. Nobody has to email you a file.

Reconnection Handling

If someone drops, their local recording keeps running. A guest has two minutes to reconnect and a host has thirty seconds before the room closes — see Online Mode.

Studios (Team)

Team workspaces get a persistent recording room with a bookmark-able URL and a green room for approving guests — ideal for recurring shows. See Studios.

Quality Settings

Audio Quality

The 96 kHz / 24-bit master is a desktop feature. Browser recordings run at 48 kHz, and iPhone/iPad built-in microphones are capped at 48 kHz by the hardware on every plan.

Video Quality

Selectable rungs are 4K (2160p), 1440p, 1080p, and 720p, capped at your plan’s ceiling — the same on desktop and in the browser. Recording runs at 30 fps by default, and 60 fps where your camera offers it.

Hardware acceleration uses:

• macOS: VideoToolbox
• Windows: NVENC (NVIDIA), QuickSync (Intel), or AMF (AMD)

Watermark

Starter-plan video carries a small Capturly logo in the bottom-right corner, baked in at capture time. Any paid plan removes it.

In a multi-participant session the host’s plan governs, so a Starter guest recording into a Pro host’s session produces an unwatermarked track.
